This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

We were in Wilmington, NC and passed through the Eclipse Blue Moon art gallery & store. They had a variety of framed B-17-inspired art and a large rendition of a B-17 nacelle and landing gear for sale.
I'll leave the style & taste decisions up to each individual, but it was good to see someone who wants to keep the experience of these veterans and the warbird movement (both mentioned on adjoining literature) in the fore. You can see several of the artist's works on his page below.
The artist is Aaron Earley:

More proof of the enduring ability of the B-17 to inspire . . . however bizarre the result of the inspiration may be.

Very weird.
The B-17 in
Heavy Metal was a better depiction.
As were the women in that film.

I think someone spent too much time at altitude without a oxygen mask..

Some of the works are pretty out there, but one gave me an idea (which I hope doesn't get me in trouble; this is for entertainment only!):

Thanks for sharing, Ken. I quite like some of them, and there's an interesting approach taken.

As a fellow artist, I can appreciate the bizarre abstractness of these designs. Quite interesting and different. In an age where it seems there is less and less creativity from the general public, it's comforting to know people out there are still striving to make something new and different.

Looking at the length of the gear leg in the sculpture, I think we can safely say what happened to the B-17 used in the episode of Steven Spielberg's "Amazing Stories".

(Trivia: The pilot of the B-17 was a then unknown actor named Kevin Costner).
