They are profiles of the X-15. Not sure if there is any significance to whether or not a lit rocket is part of the profile.

The lit ones going up are powered flights
The Hoozontal unlit are unpowered flights
the ones going down are unsuccessfut flighes

Hi SOD & Chris, the horizontal-presented "unlit" icons, represent flights
with the NB-52A where the X-15 was not dropped. The "unlit" down-angle
icon represents a drop without power....a glide such as it was. The "lit"
of course means the rocket was fired. The "lit" 45degree down angle
represents Neil Armstrongs Mach 5.5 speed dash. The horizontal one
pointing the "wrong way" in the second row right-side was I believe a trip
with 52-0003, when she was brought from another base, IIRC. I'm not
much of a rocket guy, but in the 60's, I musta seen the X-15 movie a
guzzillion times!

The skin on those B-52s sure shows the wear of many years of flying. Thanks for posting those pics. Can you tour inside any of the B-52s?

Great pictures Chris! I love the Pima museum and would love to work there. (I'ts a long drive from the U.K. though!) I went there about twenty years ago and managed to get some long distance pictures of the Budd Conestoga(?) and a three engined thing called the Fairchild (?) Raider. Are they still there? I know that a Raider turned up at the USAF museum a few years back was it the same one?

Conestoga and Raider (Northrop) are still there. Conestoga by the way is made completely of stainless steel and spot welded construction.

Always intrested me the Conestoga and I'm glad one survived. As for the Raider that must rank as one of the ugliest aircraft ever built!. Still love though!
