Ronnie Oolsthorn is a friend of mine, and I'm well familiar with Gareth Hector's superlative work, but I had not heard of Piotr prior to reading this article this morning. What really sets his stuff apart for me is his focus on night and inclement weather environments, and his incredible, just utterly jaw-dropping rendering of the furious flames consuming those dying aircraft. It truly looks REAL, to the point that I got chills. That guy is a major talent, and deserves to be discussed in the same vein as Trudgian or Taylor.

i dont think "Wow !" carries enough weight, these are truly incredible, you can almost feel the emotion in the crews .

Indeed gents it's quite spectacular work. Digital painting seems to be a very nice approach for achieving such realism IMO

Absolutely fantastic aviaition art, with the exception of his group-think depiction of "blurred prop blades." (This is a pet peeve of mine. It's a photographic effect and has no place in a painting. This is one area where an artist can more accurately depict what the eye sees than the camera can, unless the photographer uses a relatively slow exposure.)

The guy could make a real good living painting flames on hot rods. His work would soon become a status symbol in Hot Rod World. He could be the 21st Century's Von Dutch or Ed Roth.

Just stunning art.

Snake, I hear ya- I appreciate Taylor, but have never really been a big fan of his work. I prefer realism to impressionism myself.

Did you see the one of the Lanc on final in the sunset, with the reflection of the trees and fields in the nose? It's like the closer you get, the better it gets...
