L-5 project available

Tue Aug 19, 2014 1:50 pm

Hey guys, well as of five minutes ago, I'm now the owner of a L-5 Stinson project. I saved the fuselage from going to the scrapers, but I need it out of here as soon as possible, otherwise it still may end up at the scrapers or my house, but I may end up at the scrapers if that happens...

It includes a fuselage and two sets of wings and various other parts, but I do not know the complete inventory yet. It will be a complete restoration for who ever takes on the project.

If anyone is interested please send me a message or reply here. I will try to get some pictures up soon of it. Any offer will be considered and if you have any C-47 parts, we would accept a trade for them. We are especially looking for an astrodome.

I'm assuming this is somewhere in PA?

Yes just north of Pittsburgh.

Had quite a few people message me about it, so I will post this here. I currently do not have an inventory on it nor have I seen any paperwork on it. So I do not know any serials or any information on the aircraft yet. I more or less just prevented it from being turned into beer cans and wanted to see if there was any interest at all in it. Next week, I will get the wing sets out of storage as well as all of the other parts and go through them and take pictures. I will also be searching through our paperwork and try to see what I can find from the aircraft. It was once a part of the CAF and we got it when the Pittsburgh squadron closed.

So look here next week for photos/info. You can still pm me though if you want to add your name to the list of those interested in it.

Well some bad new unfortunately. With the exception of the L-21 (since we have one), I am not that familiar with L-birds.

I've come to find out that this project is not an L-5. We had previously (years ago) listed it as for sale on our website and it was incorrectly listed as an L-5 and the CAF squadron that it previously was with had an L-5 so I was always under the impression that they used this as a parts plane for the other L-5. I never looked into it to confirm it as it was always in storage. However when I asked the people who previously were involved with it, they informed me it was not an L-5 and after looking at the fuselage again, I finally realized this was a tandem seating aircraft and not inline like the L-5.

But this project actually appears to be a Stinson 108, however this is not confirmed yet. Sorry for getting peoples hopes up on a possible L-5 project.

If any of you are still interested, I'm planning to get the wings down off the shelf tomorrow and hopefully will be able to get some pictures of them then and will find some data tags.

It would be cool if it was an HW75.
