I'd always heard that the Tobuls had enough spare corsair parts to build another one... perhaps this is the project. It must have been a very hard decision to proceed though. I wish them all the best with getting her flying again!

I put Jim and Joe Tobul well into the "good people" column.

Jim will be missed, and I look forward to flying more with Joe.

I never meet Joe but I did notice one thing at the Corsair Gathering in 2002, he had a line of poeple at his corsair letting them get up on it and look around long after the show was over. That made a impression, an impression that stung a bit when I heard of his passing.

Here are a few shots of Joe & the Cosair from the Gathering of Crsairs in 2002.

Years ago, a guy that I was dating gave me a data plate from a Corsair (what a romantic!) that he found while goofing around down at the old Charlestown base (that was an activity we all took part in, growing up here!) -- I wonder if it's from the same a/c? I don't know if there was more than one Corsair that bashed up here..........

Hmmm,

Shannon only wants a ring, What is a corsair data plate worth?

That was one hell of an airplane operated by some really good people.
I was glad to see it when I did and saddened by their passing.
