RY-3 survuvors

Tue Aug 26, 2014 8:49 am

Have a couple questions for the gang:

Are there any RY-3 Privateer survivors?

Were any used for Fire Bombers?

anyone have pics of them?

Friend of the familys dad was one of the Douglas Reps in the Middle East/CBI during the war. Per his logs, he made flights with the RAF 321 Sq and
on one particular a/c 90040/C.IX JT992. Records do show the a/c was returned in 1946.

No survivors that I am aware of, and none made into a firebomber, since it did not have a bomb bay it would have taken a lot more work than it would have to convert a PB4Y,

I recall Diamond Lil has an RY-3 nose, according to markings found during restoration?
