Hmmm. No Miss America this year. OK, just read it's for sale.

Yes, Hinton Jr is flying Voodoo again...qualified around 479. The Bear is right behind him at 476. Hoot and 232 are out with engine failure, Precious Metal is recovering from some issues that kept them from posting a qualifying time (carb?), and Tiger and Strega qualified on the stock Merlin ferry motor at under 400 just to get in the show. Installed the race engine last night.
That's most of the big names. The Bear is looking good this year and the team seems confident. Voodoo has three engines to burn up (that includes the ferry motor) which should make things interesting. Not sure where Tiger will start...possibly front of the Silver heat if not back of Gold come Friday. And of course Smoot in Czech Mate and the Sanders' in Dreadnaught are doing well, as we've come to expect.

There was a disagreement between the team and the race organizers (RARA) that led to them standing down for the year. The rumor seems to be that it was something about prize money.
Voodoo and Strega are technically "for sale" too...they say that in air racing everything is for sale at the right price.

Jr is going to need to put down his bottle of milk for this one cause the bear is coming.

The weekend races will be broadcast live on AirShow TV.
There is a webcam in the Voodoo pits:

I have some slightly used Mustang racing parts for sale......yes, really!!

(I'm concerned that the entire Unlimited race field is so small. Could Miss A's argument be about putting the unused purse/award funds toward those that are present at the race?)

Strega won the silver handily today but has some serious oil stains on her belly. Pr. Metal took second - looked to me like that was the plan as he didn't push Tiger at all. Gold contestants out on the ramp now; sport gold now in the air.

Gold heat finished as expected (Voodoo, RB, Czechmate, Dreadnought, Sawbones). Almost evenly spaced, no passes except the last two got lapped. Will be more interesting with Strega in the mix tomorrow and (presumably Precious Metal on Sunday).
No word on La Patrona who DNF'ed after getting a chip light while forming up for the silver heat

Voodoo beat Strega by .012 seconds in the gold heat today... Strega called mayday on the cooldown lap, Then Tiger was DQ'd for flying too high.
Not a good week for Tiger, first he got beat by Sawbones in the silver & then DQ'd. Whatever was wrong with Strega was apparently fixed as it was running up on the ramp just before 10pm.
