This makes me wonder does anyone have any idea how many captured aircraft toured around the country? I knew a guy who recovered the rudder of a Bf 109 in Boston, MA that flew in for some reason. (Believe me although only about 17 he knew exactly what he was looking at.) I have read and heard of others that toured on trucks from state to state. The Macchi 200 in the USAF museum was one example that ended up in the New England Air Musuem basically by chance. There was the Bf 110 that ended up in CA with one of the aircraft builders there I think before December 1941 though I may be wrong about the date. I don't mean captured and tested examples so much as "war prizes" that toured the country to raise funds.

The Zero from Atlanta is on display at FHC, I don't believe any of it is restorable, someone even sawed the aft fuselage in half with a chainsaw. The Sakai engine is on a stand in front of the fuselage. There is a second Zero right next to it that came from POF and is not airworthy, the wings were cutoff and bolted back on for static display and last but not least is FHC's airworthy Zero. All 3 are owned by Paul Allen.
