I didn't know about Mr. Gay's ashes. That was a marvelous gesture.
I work in an office about 1/4 mile from National Airport and the CG Dolphin rescue helicopter often buzzes us loud, low, and fast. Love watching it go through it's paces. I don't believe the airport had any helicopters for water recovery when Air Florida crashed. Just boats on the river.

George Gay has always been a personal hero of mine- I also have a signed copy of "Sole Survivor" which I found in a small bookstore in DeLand, FL back in 1999, although I never got to meet him and it's not my name in it. I also have two original copies of the LIFE magazine from 1942 with him on the cover. He was a genuinely good man from everything I have ever read or heard about him.
