A WWII veteran has flown from Texas to be reunited with the plane he flew as young serviceman based in Cambridgeshire.
Huie Lamb flew more than 200 combat hours on 61 missions. His story is being told at the American Air Museum at Duxford.

The museum now houses an exact replica of the Mustang which Huie used to fly.
Etta Jeanne the second has been painstakingly restored by the conservation team at the Duxford museum.

"We might have runs in the paint. Where the aircraft was brush painted in the war we’ve used a brush now so if you look at a spinner it’s a badly painted brush job as it was during the war. That's the sort of detail the guys go into to try and get it as accurate as possible."

I was wondering which one got repainted... that's fantastic, seems like the 78th FG is really in the spotlight here lately with this repaint, the newly refurbished Frances Dell taking to the air yesterday, and "Big Beautiful Doll" having a beautifully executed forcelanding last week.

They're a deserving unit, and I'm thrilled to see other aircraft besides BBD being represented! I hope Frances Dell can get a photo flight with Twilight Tear at some point, perhaps with BBD as well once she's back in the air... that would be amazing!
