Vultee Standards Help Needed

Mon Nov 03, 2014 3:48 am

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the Vultee Standards for hardware and manufacturing processes (sheet metal beading, flanges, etc.)? I know their hardware standards are likely just in-house part numbers for AN hardware, but I am looking for a list/manual/etc. that specifies what VS### matches with what AN### and gives the specs for their manufacturing standards. These were used in the 1930s and 1940s.

Ex. VS414-3-3 Rivet

I greatly appreciate any help y'all may be able to provide.

May have to derive them from the drawings for the cutouts and scallops. As to the rivet and the bead, those might have to be determined from modern hardware.

Craig,

Those were my thoughts, but it sure would be nice to just find the specs laid out somewhere.... May just be wishful thinking.

Have you checked with WIXer Paul Krumrei? I don't know how active he is in on here anymore, but had a lot of information on BT-13s, maybe he has what you are looking for...

It appears that General Dynamics owns the Type Certificate. I think they are part of Lockheed now.

Responsible (FAA) Office:
ANM-100L Los Angeles Aircraft Certification Office Tel: (562) 627-5200

Might be the Lakewood California branch now on Paramount St. A lot of the warbird stuff is handled there now.

FAA might be willing to check with their contacts at Lockheed for the answer. You need to ask a specific question though, not ask for the entire Vultee standards manual. Hopefully some of that info was retained.

Hello. I have the exact same request as Taylor. Did anyone ever determine if such a crosswalk existed? Or if the FAA would have the information or be willing to liaison with Lockheed.

I have the need to cross walk the entire BT-13 IPC where the P/N called-out is a Vultee Standard. I'm assuming that asking the FAA for answers one standard at a time might be futile.

Which VS (Vultee Standard) numbers are you looking for? Some are specifications and others are actual parts.

I have all the known factory drawings available that include many of the VS parts. PM or email me:
