E-2s are another one of those unsung heroes that quietly do their job, having initially deployed 50 years ago. With the new D models, it will be interesting to see what design gets retired first, the C-130s, the B-52s or the E-2s. Of course, long after all three of these planes have stopped flying, there will still be C-47s chugging around. :D

Interesting stuff, but The E-2D Hawkeye is definitely not a vintage warbird since it will still be in service for a LONG time.

Now if we were talking about the E-1B Tracer/Willy Fudd.........
