One of the most fascinating aircraft boneyards IMHO that disposed a lot of those late 40's , 50's USN aircraft. Is there any pictorial books out there of the facility?

They did all the Privateer conversions correct...I'd love to see anything about that group as well.

There is not one that I am aware of, I looked when I was working there. There are not many photos either, There was one movie scene filmed there for The Lady Takes a Flyer.

I have researched, visited and wrote about NAF Litchfield Park Arizona. It was a major aircraft storage, disposal and reclamation facility for US Navy, USMC and US Coast Guard aircraft after WWII. The site is an outstanding place for training aviation archaeologists in aircraft part number suffix identification. I continue to research the place and I look forward to seeing more photos from there.

Also keep an eye open for "The Kamchatka Incident" episode of Crisis (retitled episodes of Kraft Suspense Theater).
The back projection footage from the cockpit as the airliner takes off is obviously Litchfield; you can even spot some PV Venturas in the mix.

On a side note: most of the photo's I have seen always focus on NAA Fury aircraft. This aircraft obviously was largely used by the Navy yet in history NOTHING is ever talked about it. It's amazing we have a FJ-4 flying!

I ordered The Admiral (episode of Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theater from 1964 featuring A-1s in Korean war colors and got great service.

In 1976 I visited my brother who was stationed at Williams. I conned him to taking me to Litchfield Park to see if anything was left.
There wasn't.

The internet would have saved us a hour drive across the Valley on a 100+ degree day in an un-air conditioned VW.

I was out there this past week and the only thing left is the Goodyear factory itself - which is supposed to be for sale next year if any one has really deep pockets, and that the Bundesluftwaffe still has a presence.
