Major Peyton Mathis Jr CO 44th FS will be buried with full military honors in his hometown of Montgomery, AL in the near future.

Jack..Our thanks pale in comparison to the family's feelings right now, but thanks much for your effort in bringing one of our own home.

Jack, I've come back to this thread several times today.
I am deeply moved and impressed by your dedication and patriotism.
I can't help but be curious if you have any historical images of Major Mathis and, or, his P-38.
I truly know that you did not participate in this undertaking for yourself, but for Major Mathis and his family.
Very classy Jack.

Amazing this reminds me of what is found by archeologists in the bogs of Europe they find swords and bodies in perfect condition even though they are over 2000 years old.

Please keep us updated on the funeral arrangements. I work at Auburn and I will certainly drive to Montgomery and attend the funeral if the family will allow it.
