Trianglep has a link in his Dec. 12-2012 reply about the B-26 torpedo attack on the Akagi where 1st Lt. James P. Muri buzzes the flight deck lengthwise to avoid the A.A. in his aircraft "Susie-Q". Sadly Mr. Muri passed away at age 93 in Billings Montana on Feb. 5th. I read this in the Chicago Sun Times this past thursday.

Does anyone have a photo of the waist gun modification done to early B-26s(so suffix letter) of the 22nd Bomb Group in 1942? I'm not referring to the standard installation on B and later models. This one used the scanning windows for the tunnel gun.

I checked in my B-26 Flight Manual and found a couple of references to the tunnel gun installation,but no photos.



This is the closest thing to a diagram or picture of the tunnel gun:

The radio and navigator positions inside Flak-Bait’s forward fuselage appear to have a fabric/cloth-like material covering much of the interior walls... how common was this among B-26 Marauders (from the factory or field modification?), and which models may or may not have included this interior (soundproofing/sharp-edge-covering material)?

The US NAVY & USMC operated the unarmed B-26 Marauder for tow target operations. They were bright yellow or bright orange type a/c.

p.s Plz look at the tail of your pics of the NMF 4-J-56 & J-3 with the poss NJ destroyer below & perhaps you can read the Buno at the tail of both aircraft. These flying machines carried AAF S/ns & Bunos in their cabin Id plates. Tks in advance.
