Possibly of interest to B-17 operators or restorers...

We've ended up with a 30-something count collection of Boeing B-17 bomb bay door components that are surplus to our needs. The lot is comprised of bomb door gearboxes, actuating and break-away rods, door release mechanisms, brackets and motor drive assemblies. Mostly used, although there are some NOS (New Old Stock) pieces in this lot with some duplicates. Initial grouping appears to be the majority of key pieces needed to complete one ship set (or close to it) plus a healthy dose of spares.

The majority of this grouping was found in a warehouse inventory of the former Globe Air/Aviation Specialties of Mesa, AZ a firm that operated several B-17s in a variety of aerial application/firefighting roles in the 1960s through mid-1980s. It appears most of these bomb bay actuators and gearboxes were removed from their B-17 F and G model airframes in the 1960s when fitted with upgraded fire retardant tanks. It appears this grouping was removed, crated, and forgotten for the past 40 years.

I'd be happy to e-mail all interested parties a copy of a parts list and brief description (+ direct photo link if above doesn't copy) of the items. Direct e-mail address contact is listed below.

Two large and very heavy wooden crates full of stuff to be shipped truck freight from Phoenix, AZ. We're open to a reasonable offer on the lot (no individual piece requests, please) or happy to trade for items to support the ongoing flying restoration of Convair PB4Y-2 N2871G.

Thanks in advance!
