-Any Westinghouse J-46 engine parts or components.
-F7U-3/-3M canopy perspex and windscreen plexiglass panels.

Nope, unfortunately she is still sitting out in the storage yard. The parts are for a Cutlass restoration out on the west coast. It will be a flyer!

I really can't imagine there are parts out there....but I'd love to be proven wrong.

It always amazes me that really obscure parts seem to turn up for restorations.
It there some Raiders of the Lost Ark-style government warehouse out there?

Well I am on the hunt. I will let you know if I stumble on any parts. Which F7U are you restoring?

We would love to have even a piece of one for the museum since they were designed and the first ones were build (prototype) in Statford and in our very building!

I sent you a message Tom on facebook. Im guessing this is the one that was for sale on barnstormers awhile ago. Can't imagine anyone wanting to fly a F7U, but I would sure like to see it! :drink3:

Me? Oh no, I have enough frustrations with my old cars.

I'm just sincerely interested if any parts for such an esoteric aircraft are still out there.
As I said, I wonder if there are still NOS (new old stock...i.e. surplus) parts available?

As far as there being enough parts and expertise for a Westinghouse engine being made to fly (safely) in the 21st century...well, I'll believe it when I see it.
I say that not to be cynical or nasty, but I can't believe there are the parts, skills and money to make it happen.
But I really do wish the project luck...

Tom - One thought might be to find out the owners of a Cutlass and inquire if they have any spares. If they have made a restoration using other F7U wrecks, remains may be on hand. If you are familiar with Joe Baugher's website, which lists all-services military aircraft serial numbers, look up US Navy block numbers beginning with 129--, there may be clues as to survivors.

I know the Soplata collection has one, but not obtainable right now, or maybe Google F7U Cutlass and see what there is. I'm sure there are sources for parts out there.

The USS Midway museum has

F7U-3 Bu. Nos. 128451 and 129565

under restoration. They only need one for display. Maybe some parts left over or trade for parts they need for other aircraft. I suggest you contact their Restoration Shop manager

Thanks everybody for all the help. I have contacted a couple of restoration groups, so we will see what happens.

WOO HOO - a flyer! now that will be cool. I would love to see a legacy flight with a Fury, Panther and Cutlass!

I would imagine it should not be too big of a deal since the plane will not be making carrier landings - just nice 3 point landings on good ole' terra firma.

I think this one goes back a loooong way. I recall one (can only be one potential flyer surely?) being covered in a magazine article maybe 20 years ago?
