Did I miss this back in June?? I did not hear anything about a B-29 in the Artic.

Kee Bird.

That's what I thought but then Kee Bird is so well documented and this article presents it as something newer. This is of course taking a mighty big assumption that the media got anything about an airplane wreck correct. . . .

edit - I did a little more looking and yes, this article is referring to Kee Bird - it must have been a very slow day at "warhistoryonline.com" and they recycled a good B-29 story.

:-? Had me fooled at first tooo. Sure hate that she's sitting up there. Would be neat to have 3 airworthy B-29s...but I'm just being greedy.

I thought the title of your post was "B-29 in the ATTIC."

Turns out I need more sleep than I thought, but thanks for posting.

If you're talking about Kee Bird, she's NOT sitting up there- at least not in that condition.

p.s. I first scanned "B-29 in the attic" too- wish I had an attic like that!

"Fertile Myrtle" (the one Kermit Weeks has in storage) would probably be the best candidate in existence for restoration to flight.

Hey. . . if we could get about five million people to each contribute one dollar. . . :supz:

Could be 4 couldn't it? FIFI, Doc, Fertile Myrtle", and then the B-29B Kermit was selling through Aerotrader - I understand it is still at Borrego Springs and was for sale at $1.5M - it would take another $10M to get it flying but it is a possibility. Or am I mixing up air frames?

Borrego Springs? Ocotillo surely?

Last I saw it was in lots of pieces (along with a few of the China Lake airframes) and not looking remotely airworthy.
