Jet Provost G-AOHD in Sweden?

Wed Mar 11, 2015 9:58 am

Sometime between 1956 and it sales tour of South America in 1958, Jet Provost T Mk.2, G-AOHD, is reported to have undergone 'winterisation trials' in Scandanavia. There is even an image on the internet which, allegedly, depicts the aircraft in a hangar at Karup. The trouble is that no-one seems to recall the visit to Scandanavia - and why would a Jet Provost trainer require cold weather trials?

If it went to Sweden then I think that it would have been a sales trip but can any one confirm the details of the actual visit?

Thanks in advance.

Karup is in Denmark and is not colder than anywhere in the UK. Got a link to that picture? Found one of that aircraft in a hangar with a curved, wood truss roof, which looks like a WW2 Luftwaffe hangar of the type which can/could be found on several Danish airports.

Edit: same picture is on airliners.net, caption says Copenhagen/Kastrup in the mid-50ies.

It is the same image. The caption for the image states that is at Karup but I specifically mentioned Sweden because the aircraft was discussed (somewhere?) as being "...in Sweden for winterization trials". I still believe that it was part of a sales tour and not cold weather trials?
