What aircraft not currently displayed in the United States would you like to see included in one of the major museums? Answers can include any aircraft including planes that no longer exist but would just be wishful thinking. Maybe one choice from the possible and one from the "just wishing" list would be appropriate. I'd have a hard time picking just one though and most would be in the "just wishing" category

This could be interesting to see what folks think. I have 2 in mind - The first choice would be the Consolidated XA-41, a kind of AD 'Skyraider' look-a-like and the second choice would be one that never got past drawing board - the Curtiss XP-71, a monster twin engine Pusher with R-4360's. geek

Easy, the FW 200 Condor (wishful) & an Avia CS-199 (2 seater) Mule.

I was initially thinking maybe a Gotha bomber but then I thought a Sikorsky Grand would be even neater. Among the stranger choices might be a McDonnell XP-67 Moonbat or the BV-141. A Boeing 314 Clipper would be wonderful too.

In the "could happen but probably never will" category I would love to see the ex-Champlin P-38M get her second seat and radar pod back and re-finished in an all black scheme. Beyond that I would love to have a Ki-46 "Dinah" somewhere here in the USA as well as a Curtis Wright CW-21.

PS - Hey Mark, pretty sure the USAFM has an O-47 on display.

Well, the P-38 at the Air and Space annex at Dulles was flown by Bong while he was stateside. Does that count? :)

Pretty much any extinct type that "got away". The Martin Maryland and Baltimore both come to mind. I don't think any wish list can be complete without a TBD Devastator.

The various B-17s sitting in storage...in France, in Brazil, Paul Allen's B-17E...can never have too many Fortresses.

For someone to take on LB-30 AL557 that has been sitting in Ft. Collins for at least 15 - 20 years

An airworthy Vickers Viscount. MAAM has one, but one of the engines is garbaged, and it's been looking pretty forlorn as of late.

All the ideas above are excellent, but SaxMan, your TBD Devastator is a real " Missing Link" to U.S museums ! Spot Right On, Man ! 8)

Would have been nice to have a Supermarine Spiteful or Seafang on display, but alas all long gone.

Easy choice: XP-67 Moonbat. Here's a link to a great model of one:

Others that come to mind are TBD Devastator, Hawker Typhoon, G4M Betty and XB-35 Flying Wing. Still dreaming of a Tupolev Tu-95 somehow finding its way to NMUSAF someday...
