Need Help to ID this - railroad maybe?

This post can also be viewed at aerovintage.com

These came in a box marked "B-17".
It is steel.
It is nothing we've ever seen. Anyone have any idea?
I don't think they are aircraft parts, let alone B-17.

Tag reads:
General Railway Signal Co.
Rochester, N.Y.
8672101-G1
SER 584217
MFD by Bendix Home Appliances, Inc.
South Bend, IND.

The second one is the mirror of the first, with the number:
8672101-G2

Hi Bill, what you have there is a pair of ammo booster assemblies for a B-29 gun turret, specifically a lower turret. Yours were never fully assembled though, of course! General Railway Signal made a lot of turret stuff for the B-29, including complete turret systems

Funny...ebay image was there last night...identical to what you have: Two units bolted to a wooden shipping cradle.

I didn't think they were B-17.

Anyone want them?

Before you throw them away we would give them a home and put them with our B-29 turret parts and display.
