Doolittlee Raider Passes

Lt. Col Robert Hite died this morning, leaving just two still with us.

Leaving Col. Dick Cole (who will turn 100 this September 7th) and SSgt. David Thatcher (who will turn 94 on July 31).
Odd that Thatcher has lived almost three times as long as the actor who played him in Thirty Seconds over Tokyo; Robert Walker died in 1951 at only 32.

That Lt Col Hite was captured and became a POW, yet went on to a long life is an inspiration, much like the story of "Unbroken".

When I was a teenager, I always imagined the last two meeting privately in a cabin at a lake, reminiscing and toasting the other Raiders...
