Warbird Information Exchange

Anyone have any details? Since my Barnes and Noble closed I cannot find a place that carries the magazine. It has been reported that in the June issue there is an announcement of a Maryland being found.

When's the last time a Maryland would have flown, and who would have had it? SAAF?

It was an ex-Vichy French bird, most likely converted to transport duties and lost during the war.

I'm surprised that there isn't a bigger buzz about this with some of the major players in the Warbird world. The Maryland was considered extinct -- not a single one left, and now suddenly there is one. Perhaps because it is a more obscure type?

The magazine is in my mailbox at home, but I'm still three or four days away. Dieing to see the pictures.

Some of the big ones keep their moves very close to the vest. But yeah, this deserves much bigger buzz.

After the last "Desert" P-40 find, I think there's a lot of " Fingers Crossed ", "Quiet Hope" going on, rooting for the people trying to rescue it! Just frustrating for the rest/most of us who can't help right now, even with a small donation, because of the environment, both People & politics wise etc..that the poor bird is in right now. Hope in the Very Near future ALL that will change for the better ! I 'll be more than happy to give something to it !

Yes so I understand but don't think it was in print before Classic Wings reported it, could be wrong though.

'We' knew about it since 2007 - those on the ground obviously earlier. I am not aware of it being in print until it was 'released' in CW.

One of things the Classic Wings article alludes to is that the discoverers tried to put the Maryland information out to several museums that would have an interest in recovery. These organizations discovered that due to the political situation in the country where the relic lies they could not effect a transfer expeditiously.
