Cape May

Mon Mar 13, 2006 7:16 pm

I met this fine pilot at the Cape May Air Races in NJ in 1972. Talked to him a bit as I helped him deplane with his bag. He was flying a very impresive Super Chipmunk.

Even though it was a long time ago I had good feelings about this gentleman flier.

I think he sold his Super Chipmunk before he died. I saw it in SC at a air show in the late 70's or earlier 80's

Art Scholl was a regular at the Canadian International Airshow and as a young boy I was in awe of his flying displays. I got to shake his hand one year at the Toronto Island Airport and it left a lasting impression.

The legendary last pass.

My father took this shot sometime in the late 70s and long before any Heritage Flight was thought of. I’m sure it was Art’s idea to do this formation. He is also inverted in true Art Scholl flare.

Me, my Practica and one of Art Scholl’s two Super Chipmunks at the Toronto Island Airport. Life could not be any better.
