I saw that P-38 at Lonestar last wednesday... I wouldn't have thought she was for sale. There must be some sort of mistake.

Cheers,
Richard

I was told during a past visit to the musuem that they (LSFM) did not actually own several of the airplanes and that this one belonged to an anonymous local business man with very deep pockets. It doesn't surprise me that it was sold in light of the number that are under restoration and the potential slippage in its value.
I have also heard that it has been several years since it was actively flown and pherhaps this will mean that more folks can see it in the air where it belongs.

Keep Em Flying

Several aircraft of LS were never titled to the the museum. They remained with Mr Waltrip... who built the museum in the first place... He also has title to the A-20 and the Bearcat, not the museum...... The P-38 might be heading east... time will tell, but it obviously has been sold.......

This the same deal has Evergreen. The museum owns only the a/c specifically donated by individuals. The company ie Mr. Smith owns all the waribirds/Tri-motor/A-22, DH ect. I was told by a high up in the museum that their greatest fear is showing uo in the morning to a empty building.

It's going to be based at stallion 51 and do the heritage flights. Mr Blair is now the new owner.

Great news that it's going back in the air. It always saddens me to see an airworthy aircraft gathering dust and cobwebs in a museum, especially something as rare as a P-38.
