How many a-26s are in flying condition in the u.s currently?

How many are possibly sitting at airports in that are not in flying condition, dismantled or abandoned in the u.s roughly that we know of in the u.s? Photos would be great if you have them

How many a-26s fly the eastern coast? Here in the north east, I have never seen one flying at any airshow. But I would love to see one!

These are the ones that comes easily to mind on a Saturday morning. Some might wanna add more to the list, but these are the ones which flies, and might fly without major work being done to them. A couple of the fliers are somewhat doubtful as they might not fly much, or even have flown for some time.

There are some scattered around the US actually.

I would have said George Lancaster and his Rock Island Monarch. He's done airshows on the east coast. However his facebook site says he is currently without a medical, so everything is in limbo right now:

That sucks he lost his medical. Would have loved to see it fly. With the potential of a sale, who knows where it could end up,( west coast.) anybody know of a flying a-26 invader that sells t-shirts for their plane? I'd like to buy one and contribute

According to the FAA registry , George Lancaster's A-26, N6840D, 44-35911, Spirit Of North Carolina, has had it's registration expire as of 10-31-2014.
It may be airworthy or not.

It wasn't all that long ago--certainly since the turn of the century--that one of the Canadian firebombing outfits sold off quite a few of them, at reasonable asking prices. I think you could have had some of them for as little as $50K--and that's for a flyable airplane, though not of course one restored to Warbird standards. I wonder what happened to these airplanes, if any of them were sold and saved, or if they ended up scrapping them for lack of buyers?

Champaign aviation at Urbana ,Ohio has Air Spray tanker #32. Seen it a couple years ago at the Doolittle B-25 gathering, that's where they were setting up before flying to Dayton. It had been ferried in and was without bomb bay doors, maybe they removed them there? According to the FAA, it too has it's registration expire as of 12-31-2011. Champaigns is #44-35948, N381EC.

Several of Air spray's A-26s were sold on the civilian market. N26PJ, N5625S and N381EC were amongst them. One also eloped to Australia with one of our own forumites IIRC.

I think the price was more like $100.000,- or in that neighborhood at the time. That was approx the value of a pair of R-2800s.

Rick Sharpe, in Houston, has the Always, Fire Eaters aircraft as well as Bob Pond's 2nd A-26 that once was outside at the Palm Springs Museum.

That really does not mean much since all registrations now expire. He could have just let it lapsed since he does not have a medical currently...

Is there a co$t to registering an aircraft? If so , how much? Does it depend on the aircraft type, single, twin, experimental, etc...
Does it cost more to register new as opposed to renew? Just found that it costs $5 to renew online with the FAA. It doesn't have to be airworthy,
MAAM's P-61 is registered and it's a long way from flying.
