This was made possible in no small part by the good folks at the Freedom Heritage Museum in Evansville.

Isn't that the definition of politics?

It may be political rhetoric to some, but I think it's pretty cool.

Alright let's make this a game. Name the state your in and what your states plane should be and why.

I'm in Kansas. Between Boeing Wichita, Stearman, Cessna, Beechcraft and Learjet I have some thinking to do.... :D

The Connecticut state aircraft is the F4U Corsair.

The Pennsylvania state aircraft is the Piper J-3.

The New Mexico state aircraft is the hot air balloon.

The Texas state air force is the Commemorative Air Force.

This is all official, I'm not making it up. http://www.statesymbolsusa.org/categories/ship-boat.

I think it's great that they are honoring the heritage and keeping the history alive.

Wisconsin has Gulfstream, American Champ and Basler. Along with that, many manufacturing companies that made components to go in or on the aircraft the big companies made like props and magnetos.

While all this is very true, there is one part of Wisconsin aviation history that stands out from the rest:

The entire American (and some would say world) airliner industry began with the Lawson Airline Company of South Milwaukee.

Pennsylvania's state aircraft should be the Piasecki HUP Retriever. But really it probably should go to Piper. Built in good ol' Pa. :drink3:

So was the:

SON Seagull
PBN Catalina
OS2N Kingfisher
N3N
TBY Seawolf
F3A Corsair
*(I think)SB2A Buccaneer.
All the Kaiser-Fleetwings aircraft Corp.
All the Piasecki HRP, HUP, H-21, etc

Not too bad........ :drink3:

California would be tough one. Look at this quick list of WWII era planes designed and built there

P-51
B-25
B-24
PBY
DC-3
P-38

and on and on.
