Lawson C-2. If I'm not mistaken, we (EAA AirVenture Museum) have one of the wicker seats out of it somewhere in storage. The designer, Alfred W. Lawson, was quite an, shall we say, interesting, gentleman.

Tough choice on Washington, what with the B-17 and B-29 being well-known Boeing products. Heck, you also have the 747 as well. Any of those three would make for a easily-recognized symbol of that state...

In Maryland, it has to be the Martin B-26 Marauder.

However, the Fairchild A-10 would definitely be more than a good runner up. Decisions, decisions...

Considering the A-10 has been teetering on the brink of being phased out of service, perhaps a little political boost like this would help.

As a resident of southeast Wisconsin, I can say that we would not be where we are today, without the Lawson airliner and of course the University of Lawsonomy (Study Natural Law). We'd be umm somewhere else.

I'm not sure if you're joking, and although I'm as proud of Wisconsin...my father was from there one of only two commissioned WWII officers from his hometown...
since the Lawson wasn't a commercial success, and with only one produced, it doesn't have much to do with the eventual success of American air transport.
The Boeing 40, as Boeing's first airliner and holder of ATC #2, has a better claim to being the father of the industry.
