Would anyone be interested in purchasing an authentic engine from a Messerschmitt Me-163? We've got one that has been loaned out to many museums around the world, but it's time to let it go to a collector who wants it for themselves.

The asking price is $102,000. If anyone is interested, please do reply, and I will get back to you soon.

Sidenote: I've also got this engine, not sure what it's from, hopefully someone can give me some insight. Also for sale though: http://i.imgur.com/T6SHKX3.jpg

I think a definition of terms here is needed. To me, "authentic" means built to very close to the standards of the original design, as in "authentic reproduction" or "authentic reproduction using original parts" which is quite distinct from "genuine" which is the real-deal, original 1944-45 German-made article.

The two words mean very different things, but the distinctions are sometimes not clarified and confusions can result.

So, is this display actually "authentic" or might it be "genuine"?

Merriam-Webster says that "authentic" means real, actual, not false or imitation. By that standard, the OP is claiming that he has a real, actual Me-163 engine, not a reproduction.

I've heard of too many instances lately, of people parting with money, based on engines seen on the internet, only to have their phone calls and E-mails ignored with no engines actually arriving as promised.
I intend no offense but information from a first time poster must be weighed accordingly.

It is real, not a reproduction. Sorry for the confusing terms, I'm not much of an engine guy, more of a freelance broker.

robkamm: That is indeed what most people keep telling me, so I'm assuming it's that until I can go into the estate where it's located and take more pictures.

DH82EH: I understand your concern, I was more hoping I could get a price range of what it's worth, than a buyer immediately on here. I know I've just signed up to here and it gives off a eery vibe to buy something from a new random username online, but if someone is genuinely interested, we could work something out. The seller wants 102k, but I think it's worth a lot more given the plane itself with the engine is priced at $3m. But if you are indeed interested in purchasing it, I'm willing to do everything in my power to make it a smoother and safer deal. Heck, at this price I'm sure my seller wouldn't mind dropping a thousand off the price just to accommodate airfare to come view the item and take it away yourself, if you feel safer doing so.

We're located in Malibu, CA.
