At 10.20 AM in Zeist in the Netherlands, Catalina PH-PBY moving from North to South, on it's way to the Volkel airshow.
It was flying verry low, so it sounded great.

15 minutes ago I saw 4 and heard at least 6 AH-64 Apache helicopters scream thru downtown Cincinnati at low altitude. It made quite a racket. Seemed to be heading NW. I was thinking the predicted July 4th terror troubles had already begun! Far too abrupt for any photography. It was reminiscent of Doolittle or Ploesti, just no hostility.

Saturday, 27 Jun: A lone AT-6 type passed by the house, a bit too far off to get a good look (but that sound... yeah, baby!).
Sunday, 28 Jun: A beautiful all-yellow Stearman with red bands around the lower wing and aft fuselage passed directly overhead, chuggin' along low 'n slow, headin' westerly in a lovely blue sky. I was in the midst of washing my car, so no camera handy (too bad, 'cuz it would've been a nice shot!).

within the last 2 weeks I've spotted a tri-motor & b-17 both heading northwest over vermilion, Ohio...... Michigan bound no doubt. we don't get enough air events in northern Ohio, & this area is ripe for it..

About 30 min ago, I saw a PB4Y (P4Y) Privateer fly by. It was headed NE and crossed over I-70 probably about 40 miles from the CO/KS border. Appeared to me to be Silver with hint of color, and black on portions of the lower wings behind the nacelles and possibly the nacelles themselves. By the time I got the field glasses, it was pretty far away and could not see it as weill as I would have liked. It looked like it was moving along pretty good with a tailwind.
It sounded SO good! That was something.

Just saw a black UH-60 Blackhawk flying east to west over south Forsyth County, Georgia
Okay, so it's not an airplane, but it is an aircraft...

Lockheed Electra firebomber came over headed to the local airport. I couldn't get down there to see it, but it sounded awfully good going over the house.

In Zeist in the Netherlands at the end of the afternoon the Fokker Four formation team passed right by my house flying home to Lelystad airport coming back from the Breda Airshow.
The four yellow Fokker S-11 planes were in a tight formation passing by very slowly so they gave me plenty of time to watch them.
Half an hour after that I heard another piston engine and near the horizon I saw what probably was a Harvard moving from west to east.
But it was just a little to far in the distance to say for sure what it was.
By the way, didn't anybody spot a plane since July 16??
Eric

Couldn't go to thunder because of work. But a B-25 buzzed me while I was at lunch, and I saw the Blues performing while I was driving home. Pretty fun!

Miss Cindy and I spent a long weekend in Key West (Thursday thru Sunday). Interesting aircraft sightings:
At Miami:
- Convair 580 freighter taking off on Thursday (no visible markings)
- Air Force Two (a Boeing 757) and accompanying C-17 parked on Thursday (Joe Biden was in town for a speech)
- several Convair 580s taking a break on one of the freight ramps on Sunday
At Key West:
- Several F-5s and T-38s zipping about offshore south of the island throughout the weekend
- deHavilland DHC-3T Turbo Otter floatplanes hauling tourists to/from the Dry Tortugas several times a day
- SNJ-5C Texan N5632F cruising over the island on Friday
- Waco UPF-7 N39721 flying sight-seeing hops around the island (including us... we did it Saturday!)
- stunning 1931 Stearman 4CM-1 Junior Speedmail NC488W parked in the hangar, one of 6 still flying
- gorgeous Piper Cub NC38159 parked in the hangar
- Pitts Special N31TA parked in the hangar
- ex-Cubana Air Lines twin-engined "something or other" abandoned in the weeds by the far west end of rwy 9-27
(sorry, I was never in a position to get a photo, or even a good look at it)
Give me a few days to process things, then I'll post some photos from the hangar and our Waco flight.
Overall, it was a good airplane spotting weekend!

It's Saturday morning about 10:00 AM. For the last 15 minutes or so, there has been a pair of F-16s flying a very large counter-clockwise pattern around the Lake Lewisville area at perhaps 5,000 feet, in a very loose formation with the wingman about 1/2 mile back from lead off lead's right flank. They've made at least 7 passes so far, and they just went over again as I am typing. I'll see if I can get a photo if they come around again.
EDIT:
On their 9th pass, they cut the orbit short and turned over the lake, with burners lit (awesome sound!). Couldn't see them through the trees. On their 10th pass, they came straight across the lake (unexpected direction for me) and headed out of the area due west at a higher altitude. I couldn't get a shot because of the trees. Even with the 135mm lens I had on the camera, they would only have been a small image. Oh, well. But they're gone for good now.
So, was this a training exercise? Who knows. They did not appear to have any ordnance under the wings, although they had pylons installed at all stations.
