Well to put it simply...

BECAUSE IT'S GENESEO!! While I've been griping about the lack of aircraft, the fact of the matter is, is that it's still the greatest show I've ever been to. (And no I haven't made Oshkosh yet.) Geneseo is amazing for three reasons:

1. The people you meet, and then get to look forward to seeing every year. Many of which who post on this site.

2. The atmosphere. Unless you've attended an airshow in Geneseo, you just don't know what your missing. Its the entire setting. The sleepy small college town up on the hill. (Sleepy at least during the Summer) The same weekend as the show, the town has a huge celebration with concerts, fireworks, festivals, etc. The huge grass / corn field the actual airshow takes place on is so very rural and natural, its as if the planes belong there.

3. And the fact that no one tells you what to do, where to go, etc is probably the most liberating. A show at a military base does nothing for me really. I don't really care one way or the other about modern military aircraft at a base, despite being free. Not to mention a military show is very stringent with what you bring in. So no coolers, bags, etc. Geneseo allows you to bring in whatever you want since its private property. Heck, you can camp on the field if you want!

Last year my father and I found ourselves wandering around the P-38 and Corsair at about 10:00pm when the full moon was behind them. Tell me where else can you do that?

You nailed it Chris.

I remember about five or six years ago the Sunday was rained out all day. Basically nothing flew.
The weather broke a couple hours before sunset. I was at my friends house and was talking about the Corsair (Marines dream).
Another friend said "there was a Corsair!?". Yup, I said. Lets go see it.
We were able to drive right out on the flight line because everyone had left. We were very respectful of course, but basically had the whole fighter line to ourselves at sunset.
I'll tell you where else you can do that. NO WHERE!

See you next time friend :drink3:

For me Geneseo 2015 was the same as any other year. Great friends, some fantastic flying and at least one amazing event which was Art in the Harrier. The past decade Geneseo has not been so much about quantity but about quality. Where else can you stand within 10 feet of a wingtip while a warbird starts up. To feel the ground vibrate under your feet while a P-51 Merlin runs up. To see a B-25 rumble by on it’s way to the active. Geneseo gives you such close access to the aircraft that you will never have anywhere else outside of a private strip.

Not to mention the twilight strolls along the flightline. So many shows bully you out at 5pm. Never at Geneseo.
