So if you don't like dead animals you may not want to hang out here. I don't think this will cause too many problems.

So who hunts here? What do you hunt and with what do you hunt?

Pictures welcome!

I'll start.

I mostly hunt White Tail Deer. I’ve been hunting for about 15 years now and I’ve harvested around 15 deer.

Mostly I use a Winchester 70 in 30.06, it’s a pretty nice rifle that can easily reach out and drop a deer at 250 yards (I'm sure its good for more but I have yet to find out). I also Hand load all my ammunition. I prefer Nosler 150gr Ballistic Tips.

I have hunted with my M1 a few times and took 2 deer with it. That was a lot of fun.

I've been bow hunting for 5 years now and have missed several deer. One was a really nice buck, stupid deer was supposed to try and duck my arrow. He didn't and I almost scrapped his belly.

I'd love to go on an Elk hunt; I've had some Elk steaks that still make my month water when I think of them.

Tim

Hunting sounds like too much work. You have to go outside and all that. Really cuts into my web surfing time!

Actually, I shoot hapless pieces of paper on occasion. I'm a wimp when it comes to blood and guts, especially if I have to drag it around and butcher it.

P.S. I don't like fishing either for the same reasons...

I haven't hunted in 20 years or so, but I wouldn't mind going out and shooting the Garand a few times... hint... hint...

June might be a good month to come out and help me burn the several thousand rounds I have. I need to join a Gun Club so we can shoot on a 300 yard range and I don't drive those who live arounf me nuts.

Here are some shots of the Ice fishing trip to the bottom of my driveway I finally took the coldest weekend of the year.

A man from Maine wanted to go ice fishing. He'd seen
many books on the subject, and finally, after
getting all the necessary "tools" together,
he made for the nearest frozen body of water.

Suddenly, as he started to make a circular cut in the ice
a voice boomed from the sky, "THERE
ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE!"

Startled, the man moved further down the ice,
poured a glass of Moxie and began to cut
yet another hole.

Again, from the heavens, the voice bellowed,
"THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE!"

The man, now quite worried, moved way down to
the opposite end of the ice and tried again to cut another hole.

The voice came once more. "THERE ARE NO FISH
UNDER THE ICE!" He stopped, looked skyward,
and said, "Is that you, Lord?"

The voice replied, "No...this is the manager
of the hockey rink..."

Sorry Rob, couldn't resist.
But hey, when you come from NJ you have heard
more jokes about your state than you can imagine.

:D

Ya know, the NICE THING about Dynamite is;
1. You don't have to sit out in the stinking cold on a freezing bait bucket all day waiting for some little flag to go "POP".
2. You get ALL THE FISH at once!(refer back to 1)
3. The fish are all cleaned and fileted when you get them!
4. By parking the truck properly, it will be all loaded after the
explosion(Not parking properly turns the said mentioned vehicle into a
submarine vehicle and the ONLY proper way to do that is crusing along
the ice at 60mph with a couple of racks of BEER and finding the thin
ice/open water!

Finest Kind!

Hey Tim,
I too only hunt paper. Since I can't afford a warbird, I've been collecting rifles because of the historical interest. I've got a 1903, 1903A3, Garand, M1 Carbine, M1A, and Armalite M15. I've also got 7 handguns on my license. Add to that several .22s and a few shotguns.
Now before anyone calls me a kook, I think all of us who daydream about old airplanes and drive around the country to see them are kooks! Besides, since I got married, I'm not allowed to spend any more money on firearms. That doesn't mean that I don't have a wish list: Lyman black powder rifle, national match M15, US M1917, Krag, US M1911 circa 1943, etc. etc. etc.

I too am a paper/can shooter, and probably fall into Pat's description of "kook". I've got a bunch of buddies that hunt pig, deer and fowl, but I never got into, mind you I have no objections to it, and enjoy the occasional offerings from my buddies.

Besides planes, I usually put together an offroad excursion each year with 4x4's, and lots of guns. We usually camp on the big trips (in the range of 10-17 trucks, no women folk allowed) and target shoot throughout the weekend. When done we pickup all our shells and targets, and no one knows we were there, when we depart.

Can't post any pictures here, might scare some folks...........

Wow Rob! Those look like a lot of fun in a sandpit. Nothing American made? Do you reload your own ammo?
