I don't know how to give a link to Fighter Factory Facebook, I Googled it and went from there. The fighter factory webpage is down for some reason and I used to get it from their link, and made it one of my favorites.

It's in all the comments and replies below the photo of a cartoon hornet holding a bomb and wearing a helmet painted on a motorbikes fender. I just kept clicking on the comments and replies. That site is the one I read it from. Hope that helps , I just did it again.

FOUND it! Thanks. :) One of the drawbacks of Facebook comments in a thread is that they can get buried within comments and are not seen without a lot of extra clicks.

Here is the answer to the OPS limits question. From The Fighter Factory facebook page.


The Fighter Factory All "experimental exhibition" catagory aircraft when certified by the FAA are given a set of Operating limitations (OPS Limits). These tell you how you will operate the plane. Stuff like: how fast it can go, who can fly it, where you can fly it, where you can land it and how the plane will be maintained etc. etc. etc... In our OPS Limits it says that we cannot land or take off in densly populated areas. This limit is the reason we can't take it to Thunder.

The CWH only has a static Spitfire on loan from the national collection and a fiberglass Hurricane replica. You may be thinking of the Vintage Wings examples or Military Aviation Museums? Both of which have visited CWH for their airshows in the past.


2009 Thunder Over michigan when they flew the Lancaster with 2 Spitfires and 2 Hurricanes and the RAF marked P-51, I was under the impression that they were all CWH Museum.

Someone made some comment that I said I wish I could get excited for it but I will believe it when I see it. This is the 3rd time it scrubbed TOM first in 2010, then in 2013, now this year. I don't think I will ever see the ME262. I got super excited for it in 2010, then in 2012 I got excited again. I am glad that there are other aircraft here that I am looking forward to. That PB4Y is the main plane I hope to see (fingers crossed because it scrubbed last year). The FW190 I think is the only other type I haven't seen fly that is coming this year. I have seen all the other types fly but there are several new ones of each type.

Runway at KYIP not long enough? NOTAMs show 5R/23L open, that is 7,500 ft long. I know the real Jumo engined ME262s had a hard time accelerating and required long runways, but this ME262 is using the J85, which is the same engine in the Lear 25 and I have seen many Lear 25s operate out of YIP before and the Lear is bigger.

sorry I replied to the ops limit question before I read your answer. I was thinking it required a long runway. What do they mean densly populated areas? It's not like they are operating at the old Detroit City Airport Airshow, KYIP is for the most part surrounded by farm houses and old closed factories.

I wish the Lewis Warbird Collection could come. Would love to see those F7Fs fly. He brought them to Sun N Fun 2014 but only flew them one day, of course a day I wasn't there. He has a Spitfire too and some Bearcats and P-38 Glacier girl.

It's static. Hope I get to see it fly in during Taxiway Photography/Arrivals on Friday or possibly an early morning arrival on Saturday but we shall see.

That seems strange then that it was even considered - I would think this would have been known for quite some time and odd that it would have now been invited 3 times. Maybe it is like the child that keeps asking its parent "Can I have it?" :D
