I just read on the HAG message board that the Skyraider was disassembled and trucked to CA on March 13th. Someone starting a restoration???

What does the mean for the NEAM Skyraider? DO they get to keep it?

Thats got to be a trade of somesort and not a Navy reclaimation because wasn't the HAG 'Raider an ex-Swedish target tug?

My understanding of the Sky raider is that it was on loan to the HAG for D. Tallichett (sp?). So chances are the HAG is not getting anything for the trade or deal.
And yes it was a former Swed Tug, so I assume the Navy / NHC would not have a rightful claim to take it back.

The Skyraider was loaned by Tallichet to the National Warplane Museum, and then loaned to HAG after the NWM jumped ship to Elmira. I guess either Tallichet has loaned it to Midway, or donated it outright. Generally Tallichet places the aircraft on long term loan to organizations, but Midway says it is a donation. Nothing to do with the Navy at all.

It would be very cool to have it returned to the Guppy look. It may not be pretty but it is something that is missing in US Museums.

Me thinks that Tallichet is going through a paradigm shift (cool, I used my vocab word of the day!) and beginning to donate more than loan. Didn't he just recently straight donate a bunch of stuff to Pima? If that is the case, I hope MAPS and Air Heritage start to woo MARC for the rights to the big projects in house.

I'm sure James S. will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Pima stuff is just a long term loan. Tallichet did donate the MiG-17 to MAPS years ago, but that is it.
