Indiana Aviation Museum Re-Opening Soon

Sun Mar 19, 2006 3:02 pm

Just thought I'd share that the Indiana Aviation Museum is going to be reopening their doors on May 6 for the season. Very little people know about this museum. They have a fantastic collection of aircraft. I was reading an old newspaper article that said when the museum first opened back in May 2001 it was going to focus on Warbirds then later on other aspects of aviation. Here is the collection of aircraft
1941 PT-17 Stearman
1943 L-2 Grasshopper
1945 P-51D Mustang
1947 F4U-5N Corsair
1952 AT-6G Texan
1953 DHC 1 Mk22 Chipmunk
1955 T-28B Trojan
1957 T-34B Mentor
1967 A-37A Dragonfly
1991 Vans RV-4
..plus two engines, a book/ video library/ gift shop/ models.

Here is their website for more information www.in-am.org. I highly encourage you to come out to this museum it is well worth your donation.

The Museum is located at the Porter County Airport (US HWY 30 and IND 49) in Valparaiso, IN appx. 50 miles south of Chicago.

Also all museum aircraf fly AND give rides.

I'm going to try and make it down there again this year. It's a great museum run by a great bunch of people.

I've not been over to the museum itself but they've been regular visitors to our airshow with the Corsair, Mustang and T-28, and we had the A-37 here a few years ago. Great group of guys (and gals).

I've always wanted to go to your show. What of aircraft can we expect this year. I know IAM is going to be their again with the T-28 and P-51.

Mike, at our recent meeting it was announced that the East Coast A-10 team has confirmed they will be at the show, along a Mustang HF.

The Memphis Belle is just about confirmed.

Currently negotiating with Tim Savage to bring the B-25 back.

Tri-State Warbird Museum has told us they will be bringing at least one airplane. possibly more.

2 L-29s have confirmed

Navy F-18 team has been in contact with us. They need 12,000 foot runway. It's slim, but we are hoping Rickenbacker might help us out.

I am trying to get ahold of Jerry Conley because we really want the Venom back this year. I misplaced his contact info  Can anyone help me with this?

Sorry for going off-topic, guys. I'll post more on a new thread as updates become available.
