well, a small update concerning another restoration project of MeierMotors - maybe you remember the ditching of Fw190 A8M F-AZZJ in the birch of Hyeres summer 2011 ? Marc "Leon" Mathis had some problemes with the prop-drive (some issues with the hub/governor) and ditched the fighter in perfect manner. Of course some damage, but "Leon" didnt walk away ...... he used a jetski as a passenger

The wreckage was salvaged some days later out of the salty water of the Mediterranian Sea and sold to MeierMotors. MeierMotors sold later the project to Hangar10 based on the island Usedom / Northern Germany. Well, as you also might know, hangar10 is running a wonderful collection and the partnership MeierMotors/Hangar10 brought some fantastic planes back to the azure --> TF-51, Spitfire T9, Griffon Spitfire TP280 and of course as current projects the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 and G-12.





2010 the team was busy checking all the damages, cleaning the airframe from saltwater and later washed off the colors with corrosives



The restoration was going on since 2011 but not with highest priority - now in 2015 after a lot of work was done, the freshly restored AsH82 was delivered from Mike Nixon´s radial shop in Tehachapi and it was time to show that stunning project to the wider public

What needs doing to an airframe that has been for a salt water swim?
How deep do you need to go to ensure future corrosion is avoided.
This 190 has waited a while for restoration and some of the planes affected by cyclones in the south of USA even longer, it is great to see it proceeding.

Well, its a lot of detail work. The fuselage/wing and all the parts were washed several times. Then all parts, will say the paint was washed away with corrosives. And I mean "all" the parts. The fuselage and wings were uncovered, again washed and refined. Of course, new sheeting was required. Hard way to go, but she will be fantsatic at the end

The "Lucky Lady VII" is undergoing some maintenance - I love that P-51. Fine restored, a lot of history .... yes she´s for sale but I hope she will stay here in South Germany

"Listen to that Centaurus sound" - I will never forget that sentence of the FlyingLegends speaker as the Royal Navy SeaFury buzzed over the Duxford airfield. Yes, that sound is really amazing, smooth and powerful.

Well, such a Cenaturus engine is now freshly restored in the MeierMotors shop. Mike Nixon´s radial shop delivered the perfect restored engine for the Hawker SeaFury project. What a beauty













and of course a lot of detail work on the fuselage / firewall

Mostly, although parts of another one were used in the repair.

Yes, Lynn, it is VX302. Ex-Conch Fury (ex RAN 103, Cottonmouth) race 103, damaged in emergency landing in 2009 due to engine problems. Former owner was Stuart Aviation Inc., Wilmington, Delaware. MeierMotors/MaxAlpha Aviation bought the wreck of Conch Fury in 2011. Fuselage was restored by Sanders Aviation (only fuselage was used from this a/c, wings are off a different one). BTW ex- German towtug, D-CACE, flown out of Lübeck (mainly) over the Baltic Sea towing airsock as aerial target for 20 mm and 35 mm cannons.
