Sounds good, Michael. Looks like the same weekend as this year - a new tradition starting for Thunder being the weekend before Labor Day weekend?

Look forward to hearing the theme, theme aircraft, etc. And perhaps a certain team from further north??

Any reason for it being late again this year?

I do not have any specific information on anything at this time. Sometimes, you have to move your dates if you are trying to secure a particular performer.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Glad to see the late August dates. I've seen more reported dates that show Hamilton will be having an airshow in early-August and I wasn't looking forward to having to choose between TOM and a CWH show. Thunder will be a fun weekend again!

I figured it was probably Thunderbirds related but just was curious.

Just saw on Fence Check that Tom Walsh posted that the dates for Thunder Over Michigan 2016 have been moved back from August 27-28 to August 20-21.

And I see that Michael Luther edited his Nov. 11 post yesterday for this thread to Aug. 20-21.

Must be something to do with a jet team perhaps. Look forward to updates when they are available.

And Tom Walsh just mentioned on Fence Check that the conflict with the NASCAR races scheduled in Michigan the weekend of August 27-28 have a lot to do with the air show dates being moved back to August 20-21.

Now that's an "interesting" theme for a Thunder Over Michigan show. Perhaps the "Huey" as a theme aircraft type?

Seems like it may be a tough theme for what is traditionally a vintage warbird air show, but hopefully the show can attract a mix of civilian owned helicopters and currently serving military helicopters.

And of course in many years some of the best and most interesting aircraft in the warbird lineup are not necessarily part of the overall theme. I expect we will see a usual very interesting cross section of WW2 and Post-WW2 vintage prop and jet warbirds present.

Look forward to more details on the show over the next months.

:)

Does this mean I should bring out a sorry looking HUP-2 fuselage out to TOM for display?

Not sure how many MI-24 Hinds are flying in the U.S. right now, but supposedly the Cold War Air Museum in Lancaster, TX has a couple.

Hope we see at least one or two flying Hinds at the show.

That museum has two MI-2 helicopters also apparently.

CHI Helicopters has some S-61 and CH-47D helicopters in their fleet. Not sure if any are based in Michigan or could get to Michigan from other locations, but would be nice to see.
