Does anyone know the story on the Spitfire tucked in the hangar on Toronto Island? Looks to be a Mk.IX with a red spinner and it's been there a while.

Any idea on the serial? Also, if you haven't already, I highly suggest asking at the Key Publishing Forum as they are far more Spit-centric: http://forum.keypublishing.com/forumdis ... c-Aviation

It is Gerry Yagens MJ730

Upon arrival for the Canadian International Airshow on Labour day weekend, it suffered a prop strike.

Ouch. My Spitfire knowledge doesn't go much beyond "they're pretty darn cool" and I think the Mk.IX was essentially a technological step back from the Mk.VIII as they needed a whole lot in a hurry, but these have wooden blades, right? Would this help or hinder the repair process?
