On the news this evening they showed French figter jets taking off to bomb Isis site. What were those jets?

The footage I saw showed Dassault Rafales (twin engine, canards, delta wing).

Sometimes when I'm bored I look up photos of old and /or obscure French aircraft. They made some really nice stuff over the years.

I just saw some more footage with Mirage 2000s. Could just be old stock footage given the circumstances, but some spectacular night time afterburner take offs nonetheless.

The pilots must need to take some measures to prevent being blinded, I think. Those afterburners were pretty bright!
