Re: AirCorps Aviation now has an online drawing library!

We send all of the microfilm to a firm that has the latest technology in film scanning and processing. They scan film and documents for many large institutions and are very experienced in processing film. Once they scan the film, we run the files on software that we developed, to quickly name and organize the film by the part number of the individual drawing.

We are always looking for collections of film to scan. If people have film that is of higher quality becasue the film was preserved better we would like to hear from people. We typicaly trade scanning and processing film for the use and the ability to post on Library. In other words if you have film we will scan it and rename it for free and you get a hard drive with all of the scan files (very useful in a restoration shop) if you let us post it on AirCorps Library.

Just uploaded the Grumman F8F Bearcat Manuals to AirCorps Library. Thanks to Ezell Aviation for sharing them & embracing our belief that AirCorps Library will achieve its full potential when members feel compelled to contribute and share their knowledge, resources, and experiences.

Our goal in building AirCorps Library has been to provide a world class platform & viewer for hosting, accessing and archiving this rare information.

Eric,
That software y'all use that makes it seem like you are flipping through the pages of the manuals is too cool. Plus, the resolution is awesome. I keep becoming more and more impressed with the Library. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

AirCorps Library is excited to announce that the Stevenson Collection of 2,000+ WWII Aircraft manuals and tech orders will be scanned and hosted on AirCorps Library!

The entire community owes its gratitude to Taylor Stevenson for allowing his extensive & pristine collection to be digitized for the usage of any member.

We have already begun uploading the Vought F4U Corsair manuals!

The extensive collection consists of engine manuals, technical orders, North American B-25 Mitchell, P-51 Mustang, P-51 Mustang, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, Lockheed P-38 Lightning, Grumman F6F Hellcat, Grumman F8F Bearcat, TBM Avenger, AT-6 Texan, Boeing-Stearman, & numerous others.

Thank you Taylor!

This looks like amazing work and I'm glad it is getting done. I tried to put together a technical manual library but I do not have the time or resources to maintain it so I'm happy to see this happen.

One thing worries me, a project of this scale will be rapidly noticed by people, certain lawyerish people... I'm curious as to how the copyright/intellectual property issues are being handled. I'm sure someone is going to get there knickers in a twist of this.

While there could theoretically be issues, I assume ESSCO would have been gone years ago if any were serious. Especially considering the ridiculous prices (one man's opinion) they charge as compared to Aircorps' extremely reasonable subscription fee. I highly doubt ESSCO obtained license from all the manufacturers on their website.

As a small part of the FG-1D 90250 for the Warbird Heritage Foundation, I was working with the films directly on an old reader. I wound up making Frankenstein-prints from the printer at the library in order to get any kind of detail. Since using the remastered drawings from Aircorps, I have found the clarity, detail, ability to enlarge without pixelation to be invaluable! The ability to search by part number and find multiple copies for most drawings is great.

If you are part of a project or just an enthusiast, you NEED this! Thank you to everyone at Aircorps for their hard work and dedication to the preservation of history. :drink3:

Could not agree more, the guys at Aircorps are working real hard to make this a success with new material and tweaking the programs. This is the 'next big thing' concerning access to manuals and drawings, don't miss out.

I have been using the library for about a month now and I must say what a resource. Having the prints and manuals from different aircraft has helped me track down parts for my Mustang project. The drawing search has made looking up parts super fast which has saved valuable time. They are adding new information all the time can't wait to see what shows up next.

Excellent job Air Corps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eric.

What we added this week!

General Manuals
We added General Aircraft manuals to all AirCorps Library plans. These manuals cover a variety of topics such as structural repair, materials, and maintenance. This particular category of manuals will grow considerably and will benefit all users of AirCorps Library.
Thank you to Doug Rozendaal for the Aircraft Engineering for Pilots which he uses when instructing & working with warbird pilots.

What we are working on!

Bombers Plan
The B-17 film is proceeding as planned & should be completed in a few weeks, the Flying Fortress manuals are currently being scanned and added. This is the highest quality film we have ever processed.

Fighters Plan
Thanks to members of AirCorps Library like Conrad Huffsutler we can add resources like the FM-2 Wildcat film. After taking possession of this film it will be processed and added to fighters. Everyday we are scanning and adding fighter manuals.

Trainers Plan
We are working on adding the BT-13 which is ready for uploading to Library. This week the L-5 film was scanned, it should be completed in less than 2 weeks. We are working on a plan to add another large trainer, the T-28.

Fine tuning of the program
Thanks to excellent feedback we made changes such as the functionality of the back button which now, when clicked, remembers your original position in the search results. We are working on the print feature, and being able to search for manuals and documents within the program. Please keep providing your recommendations!

Some of our recent testimonials!

"Appreciate your dedication to preserving the archives of history."
Chad Ezell - Ezell Aviation

"We have been using the AirCorps Library for a few weeks now and find it to be a fantastic addition to our resources! The way the drawings are organized and able to be searched saves tremendous time. You won't be disappointed! It's a must have for any shop or enthusiast. The program will certainly help bridge the resource gap many small shops have when trying to maintain vintage aircraft to the exacting standards needed for safe operation.”
Michael Vadeboncoeur - Midwest Aero Restorations & Warbird Pilot

February Update

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE FIRST TWO MONTHS!
Everyday we add members, manuals, and microfilm.

This month we added 31,600 technical drawings & 17,000 pages of manuals donated by members worldwide.

Join Now! http://www.aircorpslibrary.com

WHAT WE ADDED IN FEBRUARY!

AN Standards
We added a digitized & searchable set of AN Standards part numbers (1-10000) to all plans. The thousands of AN Standards cover the technical data of AN part numbers ranging from a AN23 Clevis Pin to a AN5825 rate of climb indicator. These parts, used on all aircraft, are integral to structural repair, restoration, and maintenance. This particular category of standard parts will grow considerably as members contribute. If you have AN Standard drawings that fills in a gap please send them along.

Manuals & Microfilm
We've added hundreds of manuals. thousands of drawings, and are continuously making program improvements. We enhanced processing capabilities by adding a new high speed single pass scanner and flatbed, these new additions increase throughput markedly.

HERE ARE SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF WHAT WAS ADDED IN FEBRUARY!

128 Manuals Added - All Resource Groups

Please keep providing your recommendations!
