Try the part number 3-14335-092 rather than 3-14335-992, and see if that helps; it was very hard to read. I see you've had some other -992's so it could have very well been that also. That was the only digit I had any real trouble deciphering.

Is this Tony?
Thanks for getting the data for me! The part number is definitely 3-14335-992. That first "9" does kinda look like a "0" but if you look closely at the photo you took, there is a little tail at the bottom. This is consistent with the data obtained from B-29-90-BW 44-87779 "Legal Eagle II" at the South Dakota Air and Space Museum.
Yours is:
B-29-75-BW 44-70064, Craft Number 10896, the 1,200th B-29 produced at Boeing, Wichita Kansas
Tail Enclosure
Part Number 3-14335-992
Contract Number 8073
Serial Number 1212
B-29-90-BW 44-87779 "Legal Eagle II" the 1,435th B-29 produced at Boeing Wichita, Kansas
Tail Enclosure
Part Number 3-14335-992
Contract Number AC 19673
Serial Number 1460
So far though, between the original Boeing blueprints and several different wartime manuals, I do not have any documented production data for aircraft past Boeing, Wichita Block 45 of B-29 production. So your information is VERY exciting. It proves that a 3-14335-992 part number was used at Boeing, Wichita between Block 75 and Block 90 of production.
Very cool!

Nope, this is not Tony. I'm Ken, I volunteer in the Restoration Dept. Nice to meet ya!I happened to have to be in the B-29 anyway, so Tony asked me to try to get it. The plate was a mess and took an hour to clean before I could try and read it. I was hoping to get the numbers without having to pull the plate, as it was a bear to read up in the plane. I'm glad it worked out and the numbers helped you, that is very cool news indeed!

Wouldn't mind seeing more pictures of the interior of that plane...maybe in another thread?

I'll need to be up front in the next few days (doing a little work on gun sights) so I'll get pics of the front later and put up a thread for you. She's a little rough inside... O.K., A Lot rough inside, but I'd be happy to publish them.
