It's a B-17B from Wright Field with proposed C model armament changes. Note the offset commander's bubble behind the cockpit, unique to the B model. B models were modified to incorporate some and in most cases all of the C/D model's revised gun positions.

Here are a couple of photos of The Movie Memphis Belle in the snow at Tri-Cities Regional Airport. She stopped off due to snowy weather on her journey to her new home in Geneseo, New York.

Light snow beginning to fall.

Heavy snow falling.

Engines started and ready to depart.

And here is a video I shot of The Movie Memphis Belle departing Tri-Cities Regional Airport.

My understanding is that the turret was switched out to 'dummy' shell to allow easier access to passengers.
Before returning to NY, the shell was removed.
They apparently have a new upper turret in Geneseo ready to be installed in The Belle.

From the 1942 short film Men of the Sky. Four new B-17Es are featured; maybe shot at Hamilton Field?

Three of the serials were legible. Per Baugher:
Quote:

Quote:

Quote:
(41-)2536 delivered to McDill Jan 29, 1942; assigned to 19BG 28BS in Hawaii Mar 1942; transferred to 43BG Melbourne (date unknown); damaged at Rabaul Aug 7, 1942. Lost Nov 22, 1942, 60 miles off coast of Lae, PNG whilst attacking Japanese destroyers. Burst into flames and crashed into sea.

Anyone have any images of 41-2536 as a combat plane?

Peter, Sorry but this photo was taken in 1987, not 1989.
The three B-17's in the photo are "Sally B", the IWM's then called "Mary Alice" and "Thunderbird", before she flew to the states.
