This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Today saw another great development in warbirds downunder.....with a long term rebuild of a P-40 Kittyhawk final finished and it flying again in southern Australia.

This is great news, thank you for sharing! I had been anticipating this aircraft being completed/flying for the last couple years. It was originally at Precision, and is P-40N 42-104986, a 49th FG combat-vet assigned to Capt. Nelson Flack (credited with 5 kills). I love the checkerboard rudder markings on this one, which really sets it apart.

Howdy all
Would have been nice if the owner had painted this ship in its original 8th Fighter Squadron markings.

From what I've read, it is painted in its original 8th FS/49th FG markings (no known nose art or name).

Howdy John
The spinner is in the colors of the 7th FS, while the 8th FS had yellow and black spinner.
From what I've seen there is no ship number or pilots/Crew chief name either.
Hopefully the owner changes his mind in the future.

Thank you Lightning, I wasn't aware that the spinner colors were wrong. So, at present, it (oddly) has the tail markings of the 8th FS and the nose/spinner markings of the 7th FS.
While still under restoration at Precision, some years back, the aircraft was listed for sale through Platinum Fighter Sales, from where these couple photos came:
