I guess a strange thought - how did they get the dirt on the graves so uniform? It seems like they must of had some sort of mold to do that.

Look at the picture that shows the graves from behind.

It seems as if the mounds are hollow, and there's canvas (?) draped over them.

Anyone know why they did that? Something to do with preventing the rain from washing the sand off the graves, maybe?

Thanks for sharing. Now I know where Basilone Rd. at Camp Pendleton (located in northern San Diego County) comes from. I've driven past it thousands of times.
