No matter the cost GO!
I made it over in 2011 and 2012 and it was worth possibly living under a bridge (or at least a PT-26 wing in a humid hangar) when I retire.

Bomberflight helped grease the skids both trips and he took me to visit my Dad's old 384th BG base- Grafton Underwood, as well as the 381st BG base at Ridgewell.

Even met up with LightJug in 2012 Image

The Shuttleworth Collection must be seen!

Thanks for the tips on staying in Cambridge... I made it to the various museums there, the last trip over and enjoyed myself thoroughly. You can even see the bridge where Robert Wagner laid the lip-lock on Shirley Anne Field in THE WAR LOVER.

Ever the romanticist,

SPANNER

Well, if you have a budget issue, that makes flying a warbird out of Ottawa with VWoC much more attractive.

A typical outfit in the UK (Boultbee) offers :20 airborne for £2750 in a Spit 2-seater. Today that runs CAD$5173.

VWoC costs $2300 for the P-40, which has a stick in the back seat, and which the pilot will allow you to try if he thinks you're up to it.

So, $2300 vs $5173. The Spitfire flight is about twice the cost of the P-40 in Ottawa.

And in US funds, the P-40 is only $1772.

But in Ottawa, you CAN FLY IN FORMATION WITH ANOTHER FIGHTER! OR EVEN THE LANCASTER!

And the pubs in The Market, are rather nice ;)

This photo was taken from the P-40 on one of these flights.

(note: there is an additional cost for flights with the Lancaster, and lead-time can be long. But we have the other fighters in-house)

My wife's best friend's father had a ride in the Lancaster a few years ago.

I'll look you up next year if I get to visit Canada again (B747-400 command in the offing), although I'm saving hard to do the ten-hour P-51 checkout in Florida if I can get it passed the Director of Domestic Operations.... :axe:

Sure, look me up if you have a long enough Toronto layover. I live an hour's drive north.

Have fun with the -400. I never flew it, but I'm on the 777 now. (And I wish we had 4 instead of 2... !)

I am already starting to plan for 2017, meeting travel agent next week. I can't find a date for 2017, but looking at past dates it seems that they are the 2nd weekend in July, except for 2012 where it was June 30 -July 1. Or am I just to early? With the wife along I must include Paris, London and of course Cambridge.
