Former RAN S-2 Trackers - fate still unknown in 2016

Tue Apr 05, 2016 11:05 am

Article written by myself and Graham Slingsby -

https://downunderaviationnews.wordpress ... e-decided/

discussing the former RAN S-2 Trackers at West Sale Airport and what their fate is likely to become.

"It is believed" - have either of the writers reached out to the US-based investors for any comment? The article seems rather vague on this, as if the information has come from second-hand (uncited) sources.

Last I heard was they were waiting to be put onto a ship and sent to the states.

Well we could delete most content from most forums then. I would wager that the information has come from a reliable source - I say this because we (Reevers) have made some inquiries on these trackers and
have been advised pretty much the same thing.

KiwiZac,

I can assure readers' that the article is factually correct in every detail.

The tone of language used in the article, was deliberately designed with diplomacy at the fore.
We haven't "reached out" to the US investors for any "comment." There's clearly no requirement to do so.

However, I have personally contacted the US investors and constructive dialogue has been established with them (and other relevant stakeholders).
The content of this dialogue is strictly confidential and does not concern the general public or any 'interest' groups/individuals.
Nor should it.

The article is not "vague" and no information contained there-in, "has come from second-hand (uncited) sources."

I hope that clarifies any vaguarities which may have existed. :drink3:

Thanks.

Tracker 854.

Thanks Tracker, that's much appreciated - with that in mind the article reads differently to me than before. Thank you for clarifying.

The owner of the Trackers is starting to sell off parts of them. In recent days an enthusiast has purchased the aircraft's arrester hooks. He plans to sell them at the Australian National Aviation Museums Aerojumble and Book Fair in May for $100 a piece. Why anyone would wany one I have no idea.

I would like to humbly correct Keith Gaffs post, if anyone cared to go and see the aircraft they would find they all still have arrestor hooks attached, they have not been removed for sale to collectors.

Heres the actual ad on facebook for the arrestor hooks - https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q= ... or%20hooks

Ad is for Tracker arrestor hooks, yes. But not the ones that are fitted to the aircraft. Different batch from spares stores.
