Platinum Fighters has a AD-4W for sale : http://www.platinumfighters.com/#!skyraider/c02t4

Pretty cool variant - my question to you folks is this - is it cool enough to restore as a ASW variant or will it probably become the more standard A-1?

No, it's in the "Public Safe " Air Show mode, where you remove a Blade & the outer wings, so Joe P. don't bang his head...

Sitting in the Aero Trader yard. You can see it over the fence easily at the Chino Airshow.

This thing has practically become a landmark! My first PoF airshow was in '87 and the 'raider showed up just a few years after I did. Chino won't be the same without it, almost like the end of an era.

It is cool enough, however, considering the cubic dollars required to get this girl from the yard to the sky, it's more than likely her hump will be removed and she'll look more like the current AD-4NA's that are painted to resemble AD-6's. Also, a full-blown effort would require the fabrication of a guppy radome - that's a lot of buck$ for something not very attractive and super-super-draggy. I wish him the best of luck with the sale and hope we see her on the airshow circuit in whatever configuration the new owners choose.

It's hard to know what one would do with it. I really like multi-seat warbirds a lot. My thought, would be to restore it as the 4W but leave the bulbous appendage off. It would cost a fortune to change out the canopy, and lots of sheet metal. Maybe put a second cockpit in it like the F7F Tigercat , Sea Fury, etc. EA-1Es are too scarce, we need more available with dual controls!

Looks like one of the former Swedish Target tugs.
