NMUSAF Aircraft List

Mon Apr 03, 2006 2:06 pm

Does anyone have a list of the aircraft at the NMUSAF in Dayton which includes their serials? I would very much like to get my hands on a copy.

Doesn't their web site have that information? I think I got most (all) of my IDs from the site. But I have yet to start renaming all the pictures I took last year on the way home from Thunder (yes, we took the scenic route).

Mike,

Some of the individual aircraft web pages on the NMUSAF web site list the serial #'s, usually under the "specifications" listing on the bottom half of the page.

But, it is NOT consistent: the A36 has one, the P40 does not, etc.

I keep track of the serial numbers when I shoot there, but I do not have it broken out as a separate listing (as in NMUSAF serial#'s - I have them on a page by each photo in my albums).

Let me know which specific aircraft and I will look them up when I have a moment. It would take "a while". :?

They are not consistent. They don't bother to mention serials for a number of their airframes.

Here are the gaps in my list...

Bleriot XI
Boeing B-52 Stratofortress - Nose art panel "Damage Inc".
Curtiss JN-4 Jenny x2
deHavilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver
English Electric-Martin B-57
Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II (one is YA-10A 71-1370, what is the other one?)
Focke-Achgelis Fa 330 A-1 Bachstelze
Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-17
Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-19S
Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-21FM
Mitsubishi A6M Zero (not the restored example but the hulk they have/had on display)
North American O-47
North American Sabre - Not the D model. They had at least one other, one that had the skins removed.
North American OV-10 Bronco
Northrop Tacit Blue
Royal Aircraft Factory-Eberhart S.E. 5e
Spad S VII
Spad XIII
Standard J-1
Vought A-7

...keep in mind that I haven't checked their site recently for updates on these airframes. They may have provided a bit more info on the individual airframe pages, but the few I checked yesterday were unchanged. Some of these may be replicas as well.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide!

Mike

It actually ended military service as a Marauder Mk III with RAF s/n HD643.

But some people like to list the first military serial. I don't consider this an error.
