observation blisters info wanted

Sun Apr 17, 2016 10:11 am

hey guys I was out in the desert yesterday and found a pair of what looks like to be observation blisters off a b17 or b29, the lexan is old and nasty but the aluminum frames are cherry and one still has olive drab green paint...I think the manufacturer date is 1942 from the stamp? so that rules out a b29...so what planes had observation windows? I would say they are 30" diameter or so...

stamped info on the rings is..
assy 42-655-117
serial 4-28-sw

anybody know exactly what they are off of?
below is a PB link to a pic

Several (15) years back, an aviation supply house was selling navigator's astronomers via an ad in Trade-A-Plane, and they donated one to the Dyess B-17. It turned out to be for a later a.c...but they are still out there.
