If you were there 70 + years ago ...

... it would look something like this.

Mustang just needs just a bit of wear and dirt and you'd never know the difference.

Photo credit and date unknown, but I believe this was at a show in the UK.

missing I guess if one wanted to really 'disect' it. Probably a cuffed prop and MNF would be even more convincing. Looks to be a woman sitting there as well, but that could have happened back then.

Wow, really good photo, I'm impressed!

Yeah, one with the Red Cross or a War Correspondent could have fit into that scene, looking like that. I agree that this appears to be a woman there.

No armor plate, pilot headrest or radio stack behind the armor plate or antenna behind the canopy. Dead giveaway as a modern photo.

Not easy to see from distance, but I would say she's also wearing a male issue garrison hat by the looks of it rather than the correct female version which has a more pronounced and lower profile 'banana' shape.

There's a few other issues uniform wise that show the photo up as being taken in modern times..........

But, that's all nitpicking, and it's still a cool photo 8)

And we haven't even gotten into the invasion stripes and gear bay color debates yet! :axe:

Hence the "Something like this" statement I posted. Is it spot on? h*ll no!, but it's relatively close minus to obvious stuff you perfectionists catch. It's a neat photo never-the-less.

Actually for a female war correspondent, there are period photos that clearly support they wore plenty of male stuff for the simple logistics of obtained uniform parts in a male-dominated ETO...

The power lines, plus the fact that a number of the men in the photo are much too old for their billets, gives it away as a modern reenactment.

Sorry, but I can't squint hard enough to turn a couple of 60 year old men into 20 year old fighter jocks in the ETO.
